One particular male K-pop/SHINee fan said, "[Their] singing skills, dancing skills, even acting, they always give 200% of everything." He continues to say, "I've liked K-pop for 10 years. I started with Park Jin Young (JYP). [I like] SHINee, KARA, Seo Ingook, and Seo Inyoung."

Another woman goes on to say that their songs are "very romantic and are stories of hope when it comes to love."

SHINee also announced "SM Town Live in Paris," which had fans cheering. The concert will be held on June 10th at "Le Zenith de Paris," and it is the first K-pop concert to be held in Europe. Other SM artists who will be attending "SM Town Live in Paris" other than SHINee include SNSD, TVXQ, Super Junior, and f(x). BoA will not be participating due to her "COBU 3D" shoot in Toronto.

[NEWS] French Hallyu fanclub, ‘Korean Connection’, visits Korea 110419; SHINee mentioned.

As previously reported, French fans have been earning the attention of the Korean media for their knowledge and interest in the Hallyu wave.

Recently, Daily News caught up with a few of the members from the French Hallyu fanclub, “Korean Connection“, during their visit to Korea. Most of the members knew a slew of Korean idol names that they easily listed once asked.

Sha (22) first became a fan of Korean culture through the drama, “Autumn Fairytale“, nearly 10 years ago. Since then, she’s been a fan of actor Song Seung Hun. With 54 other members from Korean Connection, she and the fanclub used their Easter holiday to visit the ‘home country of Hallyu’.

The fanclub arrived on April 9th, and although they’re staying for two whole weeks, they were quick to claim that it wasn’t enough. They’ve already been to the recording hall for KBS’s “Music Bank“, as well as to the rehearsal set for MBC’s “Show! Music Core“. Some were even guests on a radio program.

But that’s not all. On the 20th, they’ll be visiting the SM Entertainment building to meet up with the members of SHINee themselves.

Undoubtedly, the highlight for many will be that fan-meeting with the SHINee boys, but for some, the best part of the break was in their visit to “Music Bank”. Since they’re ’special guests’, a camera crew followed them around since the early morning. While on the set, the French fans showed that there were no cultural barriers when it came to music, as they fit right in with the Korean fans.

One fan (30) revealed that she first fell in love with K-Pop when she listened to Park Ji Yoon’s “Adult Ceremony” at a Chinatown back home. “Before, there were a lot of Chinese and Japanese music and dramas, but the Korean corner is getting a lot bigger now.”

Aisha (20), who’s an avid fan of “Secret Garden“, added that dramas are uploaded with full subs in a variety of different languages just a day after its original broadcast.

Caroline (35) stated, “France is the country in Europe with the biggest interest in the Hallyu wave. Our interest in K-Pop will definitely expand into a general love for all of Korean culture.”

Korean Connection concluded, “Working with the Korea Tourism Organization, we planned this trip to Korea for the members that have yet to visit. Through this visit, we hope that the music agencies of Korea will take a bigger interest in Europe.”

[NEWS] SM Entertainment artists to perform at K-pop concert in France 110419

Posted Image

The expansion of the K-pop craze has left no lack of international fans. All around the globe, K-pop fans are clamoring for their favorite artists to come and visit their country, and it seems like France has a K-pop concert of its own to look forward to this summer.

A French association named Korean Connection began a project a few months ago to organize a K-pop concert in France for 2011. The goal seemed somewhat implausible: France had seen appearances and showcases, but rare were concerts in France. That is not to say that there is not interest in France for the K-pop artists, however. In fact, in 2010 when f(x) filmed their MBC "Koala" show, there was an impromptu fan meeting in front of the Eiffel Tower when the girls were spotted, recognized, and followed by French fans! The dedication and high level of interest from the French due to growing global integration has conveyed that the French definitely have a large thirst for a taste of the musical cuisine that is K-pop.

Thus, a few months after Korean Connection began its project, over 8,000 people had subscribed to their Facebook homepage and actively promoted the project in hopes of attracting some of their favorite artists from the K-pop scene. Their efforts seem to have been successful.

In April, the Korean Connection homepage announced that there was to be a K-pop concert in Paris. The concert will take place on June 10, at le Zénith de Paris, one of the largest performance halls in Paris. The evident honor and adoration conveyed to the K-pop artists was enough to secure such a building, in which many famous French artists have performed.

So which Korean entertainment company is looking to show its artists' international fans some more love? It is none other than SM Entertainment!

The president of Korean Connection issued an official statement declaring that SM Entertainment has decided to send some of its artists to France. It is still unannounced as to what group or groups SM Entertainment will send, but already, French K-pop fans are excited and ready to welcome the artists!

It appears that K-pop companies are starting to follow a trend and take notice of international fans. Cube Entertainment collaborated with Koreaboo to bring its global auditions to North America and host a G.NA showcase in Vancouver. SM Entertainment held its SM Town Concert in LA and made it onto the Billboard chart for an extremely successful turnout. JYP Entertainment has the Wonder Girls touring the US; 2AM has previously opened for the Wonder Girls during their tour. YG Entertainment has just opened a poll for fans to bring Big Bang to a concert near the fans' area.

It is the era of globalization, and K-pop fans hve readily taken that connection to grow closer to their idols and learn more about the music. The fans' interest is not going unnoticed, and it appears that fans are now receiving more recognition for their input with major entertainment companies in K-pop.

[INFO/NEWS] Jonghyun and Taemin mention in T-ara's Soyeon's Interview 110413

K-Pop fans are already familiar with the long list of stars that almost debuted with SNSD, but none came quite as close as T-ara’s Soyeon. The talk is about the hardships that she had to faced after being eliminated at final cuts, 6 months before SNSD's debut.

Shinee's cut:

Soyeon debuted with T-ara in 2009 and finally achieved her dream of becoming a singer. But by then, SNSD had already made their debut, and the members of SHINee and f(x), who were both previously her juniors, were now her seniors.

With a laugh, she continued, “It was really awkward when I first debuted (laughter). At our debut broadcast, SHINee’s Jonghyun and Taemin came to greet me. I treated them like I did when we were all trainees and spoke informally to them. Thinking about it now, I felt that something was off and ended up worrying a lot over it. In the end, we talked it out and decided to just regard each other like we did when we were trainees.”

[NEWS] Vocal professionals rank the best and worst singing idol groups and members 110408; Jonghyun mentioned.

Numerous professionals from the music industry recently got together to rank the best and worst sounding idol groups and idol group members, the results of which were recently published through a special Chosun News report.

There are four sets of results in total: two for the best and worst singing idol groups, and two for the best and worst singing idol group members. A simple point system was used to record the results.

< NOTE >: This article does not express the opinions of allkpop nor of the author.

# The Best of the Best

2AM came in 1st place for the best singing idol group with a total of 11 points, which was achieved partly by their hit song ‘Can’t Let You Go Even if I Die‘. “The lead singers and sub-vocalists are able to keep their voices stable at any given part of any song, and their talents are all just about even.”

Big Bang achieved 2nd place with a total of 8 points and their reviews read, “Due to their great musical skills, and a spectacular continuation of team effort, they scored well.” Coming in 3rd place for the best singing idol groups are the Brown Eyed Girls with 6 points. “Their live singing pitch and breath has always been maintained very well. Emotions are also expressed well.”

Next up comes the best singing idol group members.

1st place was awarded to JYJ’s Junsu, who topped the list with 13 points. “The rhythm that Junsu expresses in each song is magnificent.” 2nd place ended in a tie between SNSD’s Taeyeon and SISTAR’s Hyorin, who both ended up with 9 points. “Some may argue that one of the two is better then the other, however each of them display a fantastic vocal range. Heartfelt emotions can be observed even when the two are singing pop songs.”

3rd place also resulted in a tie between 2AM’s Changmin and SHINee’s Jonghyun, both receiving 6 points each. Changmin’s comment read, “Talented vocals and spectacular use of breath,” while Jonghyun’s comment read, “Impressive singing ability, being able to sing a wide range of music well is a hard feat to achieve.”

#The Worst of the Worst

It now comes down to the unfortunate results for the worst singing idol groups. Coming in 1st is girl group KARA with 12 points. “Their vocals and rhythm have a decent sound, and there are a few cases where they display accurate sound, however their actual vocals could use some improvement.” In 2nd place we have After School with 6 points. “The group’s member selection seems to be constant, and with the addition of many new members, it seems that vocal talent doesn’t play a role. Some also seem uncomfortable on the stage, and certain members sing most parts while the others are just there.”

T-ara came in 3rd place with 5 points. “It seems as if the members have a hard time finding their own personalities when they’re singing on the stage, and it’s often awkward.”

Lastly, we have the worst singing idol group members.

The list begins with Wonder Girls‘ member Sohee, who placed 1st with 12 points.

“It seems as if she only has parts that last a few seconds, so it’s almost as if she’s not even there.” 2nd goes to KARA’s Goo Hara with 11 points. “Certain things need to b improved with, and her biggest weakness lies in her vocals.”

Lastly, we end in a 3-way tie between After School members UEE and Nana, and 2PM’s Chansung, who all hold a total of 4 points. UEE’s comment read, “It seems like no emotion is ever expressed on the stage, and is pretty shy when performing.” Nana’s read, “Her sound and image generally don’t fit well“. Chansung’s read, “More of his musical talent has to be expressed better.”

[Article] The touching story behind SHINee Onew's real life

SHINee Leader Onew turned out to be having difficult times when he was a kid. Read the story below.

When Jinki was young, he was the type of person who went to CD game shops just so that he could play games for free. This kid always tried his best so that he could play the games. However, one day he decided to purchase the game CD as he felt embarrassed for always playing it for free at the shop (he’s really sucha nice kid). He bought the CD game even though he didn’t have the game player. (LOL)
During primary school, Jinki would always tear up when he wrote letters to his parents whenever he thought about how late his parents came home from work.
In middle school, like many other kids his age, he often wanted to go out to play (with friends) but instead, he would help his parents out at work.
In high school, he entered the academy (SM Academy) yet he would still do part-time jobs like delivering newspapers in order to not give his parents a burden. At that age, he also became a vice-class president for other schools. He had some friends whom he was close with and his grades were always in the top ranked. He even ranked #2 in his last year of High School
Jinki’s daily schedule in high school (already SM-trainee at that time)
Wake up at dawn to go swimming and walk to school. Listen well in class
After class (still in uniform), he goes to the training room. Majority of Jinki’s pre-debut pics were of him near SM Academy and of him in uniform. After training, he would go home and do 1000x rope-jumping…this is already very well known (many people know about this)
20 year old Jinki after debut (korean age)
Still the same. No matter if we look at his performances or Night Star, he would continuously greet people. Whenever they needed anything, he would not hesitate to stand up for them. To people who have judged Jinki before, he would still smile at them.
During this Night Star recording when they were blood-donating and amongst his musical rehearsals… was always worried about his health. He even greeted/thanked fans who did not donate blood at that time.
During the day he had to record a program and afterwards he had to record Night Star until midnight. Looking at him becoming skinnier and skinnier day by day, his pants becoming looser and looser…
When he felt hungry, he sat in the corner and ate choco-pie…
Etc etc
This is why ordinary Jinki is not an ordinary person…
